First Theatre Play on "DadaSaheb Phalke" by Swatantra Theatre Pune, India to Celebrate 150th Aniverysary of FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA.
Dada Saheb Phalke is considered to be the father of Cinema in India. He is such a personality who has taken India’s identity to a global level. Born in year 1870, Phalke made his first film, Raja Harishchandra in 1913. His passion to make Cinema with breathtaking creativity has been praised at different National and International platforms. It wasn’t a easy path. So many obstacles fell in, Phalke fought with might till the end. From Learning the mechanism, techniques to practically working on a film and the challenges in post production and in release of a film were as good as sailing a ship without a rudder! Finding female characters was absolutely another level challenge for him in that era. After overwhelming success of Raja Harishchandra came Mohini Bhasmasur, then came Satyavan Savitri. Shri Krishna Janma, Kaaliyamardan had stunned the entire for he had used simple yet powerful and extremely creative trick and techniques.
Children at Swatantra Theatre have taken enthusiastic efforts in bringing his life into a play format. His journey from Birth to Death will be showcased in 2 parts.
Children at Swatantra of course undergo very detailed discussion, research and being out their research in improvisations first. Children make written projects and slowly understand the nuances of the subject. For understanding Dadasaheb Phalke the journey was very interesting because of the interesting jobs that he took up which led him to become a filmmaker and obviously the multiple characters who shaped up what he later became. A value creating experience for children and an enriching experience for the audience undoubtedly!!
